Does Hijama (wet cupping) hurt?

It should not be painful. The incisions are very light and feel like a painless scratch. The most you may feel is a bit of discomfort but it is overall a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

 

How Long does a session take?

it depends on what treatment you are getting done. The full back organ detox is our most popular treatment and takes about 45 minutes. The more treatments you add the longer it may take.

 

What should I do before the session?

These are the Instructions to follow before the cupping session:

 

  • Fast for at least 2 hours before getting cupped (‘’Hijama on an empty stomach is best. In it is a cure and blessing.” (Sahih Sunan Ibn Maajah 3487).) 
  • Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated
  • Wear comfortable clothes that will provide access to the treated areas  
  • Try to have a nice warm Ghusl (shower) before-hand in order to promote blood circulation. (The Prophet ﷺ used to perform ghusl for four things: Major ritual impuriy, Jumu’ah (Friday) prayer, after washing the dead and before Cupping. (Abu Dawud).) 
  • Let your therapist know of any medication you maybe on 

 

What should I do after the session?

  • Hijama marks heals in 2 – 3 days to a week sometime it can take up to 2 weeks. Apply olive oil or black seed oil to help with the healing process and sooth any itchiness or irritation.

  • Eat some dates or drink some honey with water to bring your energy levels back up. 

  • Rest over the next 24 hours and avoid any strenuous exercises. 

  • Drink lots of water to help detox your body and remove any unwanted toxins. 

  • Avoid showering or applying any product/lotions on the marks for the next 24 hours.

 

How often should I get Hijama done?

If you are getting Hijama as a treatment for pain, fertility or menses, it is recommended to undergo a few sessions before attaining the full benefits. In this case you should do it every 5 weeks. Otherwise you should do it at least every 2 to 3 months to keep on top of your health.

 

Will I get any scars from this?

The incisions done are light and should not leave behind any scars. Use Black seed oil or Olive oil to help accelerate the healing process.
